Needless to say most of the time it never quite met my expectations and I would end up considering it complete without being completely satisfied. Ironically the projects always seemed to exceed what was needed to accomplish the task. The need to make it perfect was something that was not an absolute requirement, except in my mind. In the end the impact I desired out of the project was a success; and it was time to move on to the next one. Thanks to becoming a student of my cousin, Michele Schism with Decisive Minds, I was introduced to a thought process I would have never excepted on my own; Good is Good Enough!

Now I’m not saying that we should not be continuously trying to grow to meet our maximum potential as we must become more to give more; but for many, myself included for some time, we never reach out and engage in life and in the life of others because we don’t feel we are sufficient; that we don’t have what it takes; that we are not good enough!

Good is good enough when it allows us to step out and get things moving, when we can begin engaging in life and doing things that can impact others. Many people out in the world are hurting, lost and feeling alone and what they need is someone to reach out to them; and they could care less if that person is perfect! The impact we could make in the world and in the lives of others cannot even be measured. Peter 4:10 states that, “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.” We all have gifts, each individual and unique of others. Those gifts can many times be identified by taking action. following our hearts and turning to our Heavenly Father for guidance and for revelation of those gifts. Once we are aware of the gifts, we are called to put them to use. Our gifts are good enough and grow from good to great when we give them to others.

The challenge I have for myself and for everyone is to not stand around and wait for the prefect time; it will never come. Don’t wait until you feel your gifts are perfect; they will never be. Lastly don’t wait for the world to become perfect without you; it never can! But I do believe this with all my heart; if we all begin doing some Good with the Good we have; we will see that Good is Good enough and the impact we make in the world will be immeasurable!

I have spent the majority of my life being what my wife called “anal” in that no matter what project I got involved in, I would spend countless hours in an effort to perfect it.
